When will 2.7 Linux be available?

A very newbie question. Although I don't plan on using it, I'm just wondering when the development version (ie 2.7) will be out. Do they usually wait awhile after the stable is released before they release the non-stable?

not for a long while. there is a site i saw somewhere recently that allowed you to bet on when certain milestones will be reached. the guy who won the bet on 2.6.0 was off by about 10 hours, having bet over a year previously

I came 208th out of 2558 entries in that. That makes me one of the top 10% of people at doing something worthless to waste time.
