When to generate a new sendmail.cf file?

Making some changes to a sendmail.cf found under /etc/mail/sendmail.cf .

I added the following entry to it:

Code:
LogLevel=9
When do I regenerate the sendmail.cf file or do I have to do this in this case? There isn't alot of clear documentation on how or what to do, or maybe I'm searching incorrectly.

if I regenerate it, it becomes blank.

thanks

You're not supposed to edit the sendmail.cf file, it will be built from .mc source file

In Slackware you edit /usr/share/sendmail/cf/cf/config.mc and use the Build script in that directory to generate config.cf file
Then you copy config.cf to /etc/mail/sendmail.cf

This is RHEL5, which we have extended support for, so its probably going to be different.
