When Restarting, Screen goe's dark & Doesn't Reboot Unless I hit Ctrl-Alt-Del
I just installed Kubuntu KD-4, 8.04, I386 & have it Dual Booting with Windows Vista Home Premium.
Everything is fine until I tell computer to Restart.......Then Screen goe's Black & it just sits there & doesn't do anything.
But......If I hit Ctrl-Alt-Del, then it restarts & I can go to windows if needed.
Thanks for Help, I still consider myself a Newbie, so please Answer me so I can Understand.
This is an issue that is seen on a lot of new installs of 8.04. I believe the greatest number of these seem to be related to the ATI graphics driver. But, I will tell you that I have both Gnome and KDE4 runnung with 8.04 and I occassionally have this issue with KDE4 but have never had it with Gnome. I know I am not providing a fix for you (I have not found one myself), but there is much more information about this on the Ubuntu forums. My experience with KDE4 so far has not been very good. It seems to still have more bugs than a cockroach's nest.
