When one signs up with a web hosting company
and if the traffic to a particular website is too high, the web hosting company might give the owner of the website a warning.

and what does that mean by "high traffic"?

over consumption of bandwidth, or too many requests?

usually over consumption of bandwidth

Thanks a lot, two of the well-known companies are HostGator and GoDaddy.

Are those companies good? Which hosting company would you recommend?

Not much difference between those companies. Both the comapanies providing very good customer services.

I don't know which country you're in, but I've been using for about a year and a half, and it looks to me like they're a pretty competent bunch. Since they've been kind enough to give me hosting for free, the least I thought I could do is to give them a plug in return. Try them out :)

Something you might be interested in before choosing GoDaddy for hosting. :

Though we have our hosting at godaddy for sometime, and I do not find anything too bad,
there are several better than them for support and the kind of additives they give.
It might be helpful if you say if you are looking for Linux hosting or Windows or dedicated or VPS.
