When I use pm-suspend, there's a black screen when I try to resume...

Slackware 13.37 32 bit.

After I try to awake the computer from a pm-suspend it stays stuck on black screen and I'm forced to hard reboot. What log file can I take a look at? Might it be my graphics driver? What should I look for?

/var/log/messages might give you a hint as to what device is causing trouble.
How I went about debugging suspend : disconnect all non critical external devices; try suspending. (check log).
don't start X, try suspending directly from console (both using pm-utils, and only telling the kernel "echo mem > /sys/power/state" ).
Last was trying out newer kernel versions/suspend systems (meanint tuxonice vs default). Eventually it just started working...
