Whats WINE?

i am a to Linux. i hear mostly about WINE in most of the threads. whats wine and how do i install it if i want to.

Its a Windows Compatibility the site says lol..

It allows APIs to work on Linux and basically you can use Windows binaries on Unix based systems

Yes, so in other words wine allows you to run a lot of windows apps in linux. For newbies tho I tend to recomend buying $40 crossover (wine) for running apps or $15+ transgaming winex (wine) for running games. That's if you just want the apps to run as easily and reliably as possible.

Or course if you just want to play around testing wine then the 'free' version comes with most distros.
