I have RedHat 9 and on my panel is an option to run 1) Linux Console 2) Shell (BASH) or 3)Root Console. I know the difference for root console, however I don't know the difference between Linux Console and BASH shell. They seem to be the same thing except that BASH has a yellow background and Console has a black background.
There shouldnt be a difference. A "Console" can have many different shells, the default one being BASH. A Shell is what interperets the commands you type in.
Redhat 9 must have screwed up their Menus a little.
