More details please!

Could you let us know which distros you're having trouble with and what burning software you're using.

Thanks!

From your description I'd say it's a hardware issue, possibly the video card. Try using a safe video setting like vesa to see if that solves the problem. On most LiveCds there is a boot option for safe settings, video settings, etc.

You may want to give Knoppix a try and see how it does.

I will give it a try, btw i have burned the Ubuntu Alternative CD (the text based install one) and it said that the CD was corrupted, (burned it with x1 speed) i did a CD check from the boot menu tho and the CD was not corrupted...well...what to say...hope Knoppix will work :D

Btw the p35 chipset is supported right?

Well, are you sure the cdrom drive itself doesn't have a problem? Good quality disks?

As far as I know the p35 chips are supported.

gogosds 02-20-2008 08:58 AM

yeah i am totally sure about both disks and cdrom anyway lets see how will knoppix go

gogosds 02-20-2008 10:45 AM

Knoppix worked like a clock...but its kde :( i want a Gnome distro :S

suggest you edit to clean up the bad language before the LQ police get to you.

You don't mention if you installed Knoppix or you're just running live CD. Once any distro is installed, you can then install whatever desktop you want---KDE, Gnome, XFCE, and more.

some distros now come in 2 or more flavors:
ubuntu, kubuntu, xubuntu, fluxbuntu
pclinuxos, pclinuxos-gnome

Others are neutral--ie you chose the desktop during installation:
Arch
Debian?
Slackware?

gogosds 02-20-2008 03:41 PM

i have tried pclinuxos too but and that is not working
in debian i have tried the net install disk should i download the DVDs or the CD? i mean any possibilities to work or...?

gogosds 02-20-2008 03:41 PM

Might the GFX card is the problem?
eax1600pro its a bit old

timks 02-20-2008 04:06 PM

I had a problem similar to yours. I updated my bios and it worked fine.

gogosds 02-20-2008 04:12 PM

i will give it a try and i will post the results :)

gogosds 02-21-2008 06:58 AM

i updated my bios to latest, things went better
On PCLinuxOS comes up a terminal on live cd...after loading screen...i login like guest - guest and then i type startx i am seeing a broken graphics screen and then it is returning me back to terminal with some errors
and in ubuntu it worked after boot screen :O and gave me those
*Starting Deferred execution scheduler atd [OK]
*Starting Periodic command scheduler crond [OK]
*Checking battery state [OK]
*Running local boot scripts [OK]

And thats it, its stooping there and nothing happens :(
