You would generally use your package manager to download from the repositories. You don't indicate which distribution of Linux you have??
Linpus??

If you can't find it in the repos, just go to the Adobe site for flashplayer, read the instructins and download the package for Linux.

Latest one will be fine.

I use Slackware and tried installing flash using the install_flash_player_10_linux.tar.gz file from the Adobe site (http://get.adobe.com/flashplayer/). Unzipping and untarring the file left me with a libflashplayer.so file, no directories or anything else. I wasn't sure what to do with it so I downloaded the rpm file and installed as follows...

#rpm2tgz flash-plugin-10.1.85.3-release.i386.rpm

#installpkg flash-plugin-10.1.85.3-release.i386.tgz

#cd /usr/lib/flash-plugin

#./setup

It goes in /usr/lib/mozilla/plugins (or /usr/lib64/mozilla/plugins, for Slack64).
