hello,

im a newbie with linux, i've just installed mandriva linux one free download version...i've logged in, entered the pwd, and those are fine...but then i get [login@localhost ~]$ and a prompt waiting for a command...basically i do not know what the commad should be...

i've only installed CD1...am i supposed to install CD2,3,4 in order to get the GUI...or did i miss an installation configuration?

thnx in advance for any tips..

When I tried out Mandriva a while ago I think it used 3 cds to install, whatever it is I'm fairly certain if you only installed using the first cd then something went wrong, it should have prompted you when the other cds were needed I would think. It would probably be easiest to try to install again.

When you get the bash prompt, login with your normal username and password, then enter the command "startx". Post back any error messages you get.
