What linux distro to use on old Dell Inspiron 7000 notebook

Hi,
I want to convert an old Dell Inspiron Notebook (circa 2000) to a linux based machine. Any suggestions on which distro to use, or some sites that will tell me how to accomplish this task?

I actually had Mepis 6.5 running on one of those... No idea if M8 would run. I fear not. Might be worth looking at antiX.

I noticed that the last linux distro you used was rh6! Things are not like that anymore.. unless you want that!
I use Puppy Linux on my inspiron 7500, and it works really well. Depending on specs cpu/Ram/Hdd space, you can go with DSL on the lower spec end, and Debian/Ubuntu/Slack/all the Biggies, on the higher spec end.
