What Linux???
Hi Everyone!
Just want to ask. what version of linux is the best? i have been using fedora but i think, there are lot of bugs.. Thanks! |
There is no 'best'.
What one person likes, another person might have serious problems with. |

it also depends on what you want to do with it?! |

Yes. you have a point guys. But just asking of what linux OS is best so far.
But thanks to all of you! @telengard: i will try to check your post.. thanks! |
If you liked Fedora, you may want to try CentOS. They're both based on Red Hat; However, Fedora is bleeding edge (testing) while CentOS uses the stable version.

Some people will like distro 'X', other people will like distro 'Y', and some people will say that X and Y both suck, distro 'Z' is obviously the best. brownie_cookie has a good piont, what you want to do will have a big impact on what distro suits you. How much work you want to put into getting things going will also have a big impact. |

Or You prefer a Linux Distro which puts the reins in your hands and assumes you'll RTFM (every now and then)? |
Try with Cent OS. It is stable and always available update.

I would suggest to learn some comercial distro of linux e.g. RHEL or SLES cause big companies don't bother with freeware such as debian who doesn't have support.
They use RHEL or SLES. In order to learn RHEL you could use Fedora, CentOS or ScientificLinux. CentOS/ScientificLinux and RHEL are the same distros but RHEL requires you to have payment subscription in order to get updates. Other 2 don't. |

Best? One that works on your hardware without problems and gives satisfaction to you in way it works at same time. Since you are Windows user you might want try Ubuntu, Mint, PCLinuxOS, openSuse or Fusion linux to start with, then move on from there. Also there are some distro choosing online tests you might want consider trying.

But seriously, it's like choosing a car - the best is the one you like better. One of the options to choose a distro is to choose a startup script-style - SysV or BSD. BSD-style is more simple. Fedora is SysV. |
You might also want to use the LQ Search option to read the 100s of similar threads that have appeared over the years.
