What kind of a hardware equipment would I need?

I am a man in my late-20s, and currently teaching children in another country. I know an aging couple. They often invite me to their house and treat me into a warm hearty meal, and ask me to tell them about Canada and about my parents, and if I enjoy teaching here. The old lady told me she had two sons, and the older son got married a few years ago and just recently her younger son got married. Her second son is older than me. I had a chance to meet the second son and his wife. The old lady also does laundries for me, and so on. When I was coughing a lot, she gave me a warm tea to soften and moisten my throat.

I recently found out.... why the aging couple keep inviting me to their home and feed me... they are lonely!!

I want to give them a little present.

Last week, at the school where I teach at, the director and I stayed after classes and cleaned up the whole school. We threw out useless stuff, and we relocated some of the furniture. We were able to sqeeze in a few more desks after rearranging some of the furniture!!

While we were cleaning, we found a computer. It seemed to be about three to four years old. Of course it was not brand new, but I was sure it is still functioning. It felt as though the computer was not used for the last couple of years.

I asked my director about the computer, and my director indicated that the computer is no longer needed because the teachers use laptops nowadays if they ever need to show students something.

Just a few days ago an idea went by my head... I want to bring the old desktop computer to the old couple. They aren't all that experienced with computers, just like majority of people around their age.

I often visit the couple's house, and recognized that my laptop was able to catch a wireless network and connect to the internet for free. It wasn't the most stable internet or the fastest interenet, but it indeed is good enough. I plan to bring the no longer needed desktop computer to this old couple's house and clean it and give it to the couple.

Here is my question:

I guess I will have to add a wireless network card in order to make use of the wireless internet? What do I need? What do I need to put in the desktop computer? I tried a wireless network card for desktop computers a few years ago back in Canada, to take advantage of a wireless network, but it did not work.

I plan to purchase speakers for the desktop. :)

I am sorry, I do agree taking advantage of someone else's wireless network is not exactly a right thing to do...

This is a double post. Keep your post only in one forum that you find is more suitable for your question. Also I seem to see that there is nothing related to linux in your question.
But still... you will need a pci wireless card. There are now-a-days usb wireless cards available. If you are using Window$ then they will ship the driver cd with the hardware you buy. And if you are planning to buy speakers for the desktop then just buy them. You wont need drivers for speakers to function.
