What "kernel.shmmax = 128000000" do?
 
In order to install avast! on Linux I must type that command, I just don't know what it does and how that can damage the system in some way?

Have a look here:
- Kernel configuration

This seems to be a normal setting when installing avast. Nothing to worry about
