What is the difference between "IDL_PATH" and "IDL_DIR" ?

Hi Everybody,

Does any body know "What is the difference between "IDL_PATH" and "IDL_DIR" ?

Best regards,

I believe IDL_DIR is the main IDL directory and IDL_PATH is used to set the PATH in which to look for procedures and functions. Googling "IDL environment variables" found some useful links, e.g. http://www.physics.nyu.edu/grierlab/.../sysvars6.html and http://idlastro.gsfc.nasa.gov/idl_ht...ed_by_IDL.html.
