What is the best way to free up space on /usr

I need to make some room on /usr. It is almost getting full on one of my boxes.

I'm thinking that I will need to remove some rpm's? (Running RH 8.0)

Any other suggestions on how to elevate space on /usr?

Thanks.

not really, normally only installed programs libraries and other stuff are put there.
removing some programs that aren't really interesting to you (anymore) might help clearing /usr up

dumping /usr/doc /usr/share/doc and /usr/local/doc
should give you some room. i think a few programs
use info there for program help and stuff, but it's your
choice.

Could you move some of the heavier stuff out of /usr and symlink to the new location? There could be security implications, so the new location should be chosen wisely.

You can remoe linux source from "/usr/src" if you don't want to do kernel compilation.
