i want a GUI that is not too difficult to use, like Slackware, but that has standard commands, unlike RedHat, so that i can learn all the generic commands. any suggestions? what are the pros and cons of each program?
I would suggest my favourite, Gentoo. There is execellent guides to setting up a beautiful and up-to-date system. I'll recommend KDE or Fluxbox (again my personal favourites).

This one is closed. orpheus, youve started 6 very similar threads. Please don't open new ones. Try to describe your problem in details in one of those already open and you've got a good chance to get an answer that satisfies you. Please not that 'which distro is best'-type question is very hard to answer.
