What is RPMS and SRPMS?

i'm looking for YUM repositories that works with RHEL 4 AS.. and found this...

http://yum.ourlinux.net/redhat/AS/4/i386/

they have RPMS and SRPMS.. what's the difference?

RPMS are binary packages, that contain a program to install on your system. SRPMS are source rpms that can be built into rpms, or used by developers for various purposes. When installing packages on your system, you need to install RPMS.

thats weird isn't up2date a yum frontend? Last time I used red hat up2date used yum. Have they changed this? Just curios.

I thought the same thing, but apparently they can use the same repositories but are not necessarily the same thing. Anyway, that happens sometimes when mirrors are not fully synced, sometimes waiting for a few hours and using up2date again will update your system ok.
