Also... In the "Bad Old Days", when you signed up with an ISP to get a broadband internet connection, they registered you using your system's MAC address as seen by the ADSL or cable modem. When routers became available you could invariably "spoof" the MAC address of the router you'd bought so the ISP still thought it was your PC, while you now had your own LAN sitting behind the registered MAC address. :D Now that they supply the WiFi routers themselves, it gets set up on install.
