What is HA Proxy?

What is it used for?
Thank you in advance and apologize if I posted in the wrong section.

Cheers!

That will depend on the context in which you stumbled upon this term.

I'll hazard a guess and say it's a proxy server in a high-availability
environment, which means that you actually have 2+ machines that can do
the same thing (in this case being a web proxy) in a fault tolerant way.

Cheers,
Tink

If that really was a guess, Tink, it was really quite a good one. OTOH, I'm not quite sure why the 'go to' place for information on ha-proxy isn't ha-proxy.
