Hello All,

Thanks Bobby Howerton Linux....to be or not to be......That is the question and I believe we all know the answer which is: Microsoft Windows is out the window and Linux is 'to be' IN the house!!!!!!!!!!! |
Have you taken a look at the LQ Magazine Reviews yet? If not, you may find it useful -- J.W.

Make a list of things you'd like to tweak in linux and go for it learning everything you need from google.
Try out all sorts of new software and try compilingn it from source. Figure out where the conf file for every setting is and learn it's syntax Try out different distros (Definately go for Gentoo :) ) Help peope online, if you don't know the answer, look it up and see if you can figure it out |
The best way to learn Linux is using Linux.

I can't recommand any magazine for you - I am not familiar with US media. What helped me a lot (in addition to this fine place here) was books, good old-fashioned books. I must have borrowed every single Linux book from my local library, including Linux for Dummies etc. Most of them come with some distribution in form of one or two CDs.
It's not a perfect solution. Most of those books seem to be written for people who use PCs on a very regular level (web, word, chat). So the authors keep everything very simple. But a book can help. Plus google, plus linuxquestions.org, plus IRC... |
an excellent online guide....

thanks 4 the amazing collection of links.................................... |
shengchieh - why not put all those links into your public bookmarks? That way they will always be visible to people who visit your profile, or you can include a link into your sig block pointing to your public bookmarks. It isn't necessary to keep posting this list of URL's -- J.W.

Book magaxine store
Hey, Glad to have you with us.
Where do you live? I live in Ireland and there is a particular book shop with every magazine you could want. If I just shop around I usually find a really good U.K based Linux magazines with good distros and good articles. In fact my current Linux distro - Slackware 10 - running on my Atlhon64 - was aquired in one of these magazines. I believe 'Linux Format' to be excellent. The above info is very good though ;) Best of luck with it. -- |
