What image file do I use for the boot floppy on Install???
Hello~`
I haven't even got past making the install boot floppy. I've already tried the rawwritewin.exe on the floppy, but nothing booted up on restart. Would love to get started on the whole Linux adventure, but cant seen to get out of the front door. I'm sure someone has the answer. |
adjust your Bios to boot from CDROM and reboot PC with install cd in the drive
|
or are you attempting a network/ftp instal?
|
First of all I can't get into the bios for some reason. So I'm trying to do it from the boot floppy.
Second I'm just on a single computer. No network/ftp instal. I have the 9.1 powerpack cd set. the instal intructions just don't say much about making the floppy. |
which distro are you trying to install? The floppy image would have different names depending on the distro (i would guess)
|
Mandrake linux 9.1
|
Take a look at INSTALL.txt which is at the top level of the CD (I assume you have downloaded the iso's).
|
Actually I bought the box set. Power Pack 9.1
Its just very vague about what to do when making the floppy for the boot install. I have to goto work in the morning so I won't be back after this post till am. Thaks!!! |
I guess the problem is you cannot boot from the CD drive? If so,
cdrom.img should be the one. |
