What if NFS server reboot?

I have installed a diskless workstation with all directories mounted via NFS (including /).

Now, how it is possible for me to reboot NFS server?

Is it true, that if rebooting server, I will get kernel panic on client?

My client is accessible for me either via serial console, or via ssh. Both ways will be unusable if kernel panic.

So, the question is: how to do so that I would be able to reboot both computers remotely?

Is it possible to make PXE menu to display comma prompt?

I *think* the client will just hang (all I/O operations held waiting) while the NFS server is not available and recover just fine afterwards.

At least that's what I experience when our NFS server is rebooted. But here, we only mount the NFS share on a subdirectory, not on root.
