Hi, can I suggest using more useful thread titles in future, something that directly relates to the topic of discussion? And in addition if you are looking to start a debate about something, you should really put your own point of view in there first to get started with. Cheers.

Then someone would be accused of having a "Linux monopoly"....I think that first, the direction of the Earth's rotation will change.

How about an easier first step: Anyone selling a computer would be required to:
a. offer a choice of operating systems (including none)
b. show the pricing of the OS separately

It would be unimportant. I would rather the HDD be clean, because, sure they can install by fav distro, but that would take me only about 30 min, then I have to tune the system to my liking which takes longer. So, the most they would save me it 30 min, but they'll probably install stuff I don't want, so I'll spend 15-20 min removing it ... not much time saved I say.

Yes, that would be the ideal solution.
