What Happened To My Linux? Help!!

I was using RedHat 9. Many people commented it as obsolet. So I brought
CDs of Red Hat Enterprise Edition 5.
I was trying to install it in graphical mod.
But automatically it started in text mod, cause my ram was not supporting
the graphical mod.
Now after the installation process is completed, it is running in command
mod. I'm getting headache.
Is it because my RAM is not supporting graphical mod or i ve to
do some configuration setting.

It is a big trouble for me to use my computer without mouse. Help me

Post Red Hat Enterprise 5 problem.

I was using Red Hat 9. I thought of using Red Hat Enterprise edition.
So I installed Red Hat Enterprise 5.
I was using Red Hat 9 in graphical mod. But RHEL 5 is not running in graphical mod.
It is asking for localhost login.
In Red Hat 9 it used to ask but after 3 4 sec graphical mod was asscessable.
But RHEL 5 doesn't.

After logging in as root. I typed:
/sbin/runlevel
It says that runlevel is 3.

Why I am facing this problem?

Is it because i installed RHEL 5, in Text mode because my RAM was unable to support graphical mod for installation?
Or my graphics card is not supporting RHEL 5?

Why not post your machine specs and info so we can make a better educated guess as to the issue ?

CPU / RAM in machine

output of lspci

echo $RUNLEVEL

cat /var/log/Xorg.0.log | grep EE

Are you sure you've installed Gnome or any other GUI?
Runlevel 5 is the one which runs X11. To enable booting into runlevel 5, you can modify the file /etc/inittab:
Quote:
id:5:initdefault:
First try to establish what you've installed. Run:
Quote:
yum grouplist
It'll list available/installed groups (X Window System, Gnome, Kde, etc)
