what happened to ffmpeg in linux mint 17.2

hello

After a long hiatus from linux mint I discovered ffmpeg isn't available in the repos. What gives???

Is there an easy way to install it? Thank you

Here is the download page for ffmpeg
http://ffmpeg.org/download.html

Assuming you're using trusty (which LM17.2 uses for its ubuntu base) this ppa should work. However, please confirm for yourself beforehand!
https://launchpad.net/~mc3man/+archi...u/trusty-media

As for why it's like this, this might help

Hi...

Welcome to the forum

Does the method here work?

EDIT: Just tested it on my system. It works fine.

Regards...

Hi Sefyir...

For some reason, when I went to include the PPA from this site, I received a "No Public Key" error message. Just FYI...

Regards...

Code:
sudo add-apt-repository ppa:mc3man/trusty-media
sudo apt-get update
sudo apt-get dist-upgrade
sudo apt-get install ffmpeg
Did the trick here on Linux Mint 17.2 Rafaela Cinnamon
ffmpeg version N-76045-g97be5d4
