What happened to Beryl (Compiz) and sun's Looking Glass
 
A Dumb question from a newbie is
1. What happened to beryl or Compiz??? IS it still available...
2. will it only work with Ubuntu....
3. I think it is based on Open GL technology so will it work on my lappy... (Sepcs mentioned below)
Intel 1.8Ghz celeron
1.5gb ram
965 motherboard


4. What happened to Looking Glass

I'm not sure if there is still any activity on the Beryl project. However, Beryl and Compiz live on as CompizFusion.

It should work with your laptop (no guarantees though) the results depend on the capabilities of your graphics card.

No, it works with most flavours of GNU/Linux provided your machine meet the requirements.

1)Still going as of March 2009...

2) No, I'm running it on Debian Lenny.

3) No idea.

4) Looks sort of stagnant, last release July 2007.
