what folder do i upload my webpages too?

I have installed fedora core 2 and im connected to the internet and everything seems to be working fine. I want to serve up my website, is there anything special i need to do to configure apache? or should it be set right when i installed it?

second question is, where do I upload my web files to be served? do I put them in ftp folder under pub? or do i put them in the root folder under www?

I am using adsl tier 1, i dont have a static ip, but i did download ddclient and signed up under, i dont know if they are configured right or not, if anyone knows I would appreciate it. sorry for all the info at once but i really want to get this server going.

the default location where you wanna put your web pages varies between some distros.. i can say that on slackware it's /var/www/htdocs/ and i believe red hat uses /var/www/html/ but some distros don't even use the /var directory...

the ftp folders are for your ftp server (usually proftpd or vsftpd) and that's something totally seperate from your web server...

it's okay to use a dynamic ip address with apache...

here's some apache info from red hat:

here's a quick hotwo for apache:

and some more resources:
