Question What does this mean ?

Since I'm quite new to Linux I wonder what "Sub-process /usr/bin/dpkg returned an error code (1)" mean ?? Is it RTFM/read the damn logs at /var/log or does someone have an answer to this ?

Thanks in advance !!

Since you haven't provided a context (let alone a distro name), I'm guessing that you got this message in response to an apt-get/aptitude/synaptic package installation.

This means an error happened during the install/removal of a package. And yes, you are right, there will be more information at the end of /var/log/dpkg.log
