I've got Ubuntu installed on my laptop (Older Dell Satellite) and it works fine.

Now I need to make and intall some software including the latest versions of wlan-ng and some others. My old distro (Fedora) had all the needed components pre-installed to do this but it looks like (for good reason - one CD) the Ubuntu system does not. Since I'm still a little new at the Linux game could someone let me know which extra components I need to install to be able to compile and make files? I'm running the latest release of "hoary". Thanks in advance for the help.
