Hi Ananth,

I suggest you provide more information in order to get the answer/s you're looking for.

Porting from one OS to another can be seamless in some situations and painful in others - at a high level it depends on:

1. The OS you're porting to/from.
2. The application/s on your machine
3. The source/destination hardware is a consideration (unless you're using the same machine)
4. Etc

Your biggest considerations are whether your applications will work on the new OS; as well as backing up your data.

Hi Yas
Sorry for not providing the full info. Here it is.I am working on a MIPS based broadcom board which has a BCM91103 processor.I have the BSP provided by the vendor and it is based on 2.6.17 kernel. I want to have android OS onto broadcom board. Android relies upon the linux kernel for process management, memory management, IPC and other underlying services.Embedded Alley - a company has ported android onto MIPS architecture. So, i have got their android port for MIPS and the kernel they have used is 2.6.27 version. I now need to place my kernel sources I have 2 questions here:
1.I have the BSP provided by my vendor which is in 2.6.17version. The android port for MIPS is based on 2.6.27 version. So, can i upgrade my BSP from 2.6.17 to 2.6.27?How far is it feasible? How can i find the changes that have gone into the kernel between the 2 versions?

2.Embedded Alley has ported android OS onto MIPS architecture. What are the steps to be performed while porting an OS to an architecture?

Thanks & Regards
Ananth
