What are the best sites for obtaining software for Net Book with Linux Lite?

I have just purchased a Acer 150 Linux based Netbook. What advice is available for obtaining/evaluating suitable software eg virus protection, alternatives to itunes, word processors etc ?

Thanks

What linux distribution is on the netbook? This will help as various package managers will assist with the installation of software? IE Ubuntu / Debian use the apt-get while Red Hat / Cent OS / Fedora Core use yum.

Virus protection is quite needless on Linux - unless you plan on running a mail server, from your netbook, and you want to scan all messages for any Windows boxes that use your server. However, I highly doubt this would be the case - therefore, anti-virus is something I needn't think you should concern yourself about.

Alternatives to iTunes - there really isn't one, that is, if you are looking for all-encompassing iPod support. Amarok, Rhythmbox and Banshee come close, though.

Word processors - take your pick. For small and fast, Abiword is really nice. For a complete office suite, though, try OpenOffice.org.

I believe the Acer has Linpus Lite on it. Your best bet may be the Acer Aspire One forums if you decide to stick with Linpus Lite. http://www.aspireoneuser.com/forum/

Alternately there are a number of other distros you can install on the Acer Aspire One if you so choose.

I chose Debian, which i am much more familiar with than Linpus.
