What application or codec do I need to play DVDs in Fedora14?
Anybody have the answer? I have downloaded countless programs, and codecs, but nothing seems to work! Please Help!

Check that you have installed livdvdread and libdvdcss (latter one needed to read some/most (?) commercial discs), and that the laws in your country do not deny you from using them. Typically the missing piece is libdvdcss, and the reason is that in some countries it might be illegal to use it, so you'll have to get it yourself to releaase the distribution creators from responsibility.

You tried many...
Have you tried to download VLC for Fedora as recommended here? http://www.videolan.org/vlc/download-fedora.html MPlayer is also available in the Fedora RPMFusion repository. http://www.mjmwired.net/resources/mj...l#mediaplayers If things don't install properly and can't play your DVD, post back with more details of what you have tried and what error messages you received. |
Thanks, for your suggestions, but I have installed the libdvdread and libdvdcss, and it still dosn't work! I have tried many players too. I have read so many forum threads about this already online, but none of the suggestions seem to work! Do you think that there is a problem with my hardware?
