Um. That can't really be answered briefly. You can't even say 'everything in coreutils' because that doesn't include vi, sed, grep, find, etc.

Anyway - most everything in /bin and a good chunk of /usr/bin and, depending on whether you have root access, ditto for *sbin.

Another way to look at it is to check out the shell & utilities part of posix.

A lot of those aren't actually used much, but many of them are essential.

Maybe if you said why you wanted to know or what sort of commands you were looking for...

You could look at 'Linux Command Guide' and 'Linux Newbie Admin Guide' for some good guidance.

Another good reference would be 'man' or use 'LINUX MAN PAGES ONLINE'.

I worked with Linux two years back.
Now am working in a firm where i have to use Linux. So i want to brush up the commands. Its sad that i dont have the material with me rgt nw. So i thght of getting the details from a site like this. And am happy that i got the reply so fast.

I would like to knw the basic commands which we will use in prompt and switching between the prompt, the keys used.... like- we will use ESC+shift+:+Q to get back the control in prompt.

I hope you will help me out in that...
