what īs next!
hi everyone!
I need the next procedures on Slackware 8.1 post installation. my environment is gnome 1.4. - I donīt really know if the way i boot is correct: 1- I simply press ctrl+alt+supr. 2- lilo loads from a floppy and canīt start windows. 3- I login as root... is this correct? 4- I write on the prompt : startx 5- gnome windows appears 6- the resolution I configured (I think I did it right) was 1024x768, but it seem to be 800x600. how can I change it? login out: 1- what I do is to select the option "log out" it takes me out gnome and... 2- it gets back to roots prompt as "darkstar" and press ctrl+alt+supr and manully shut down is this ok??? i need to know how to configure an user and i need to know if there is another procedure you can guide me thanks |

Take a look at the file /etc/X11/XF86Config.
Look in the section called "Screens" The first resolution is the default in each depth.
