What is the context of your question? Without knowing that, you're going to get a variety of answers that may not be helpful---for example:

"Unix was developed to provide a platform for developing C, which was then used to write Unix." (at least part of this statement is true.....

Here's the problem: "UNIX" is singular----the plural is "Unices". Or, how about YOUnix?---You know, the precursor of MEnix....(That's the French pronunciation of "Minix")

Now, say this 10 times fast:
"Linus' Minix is Linux.....is'nt Unix......is it?"
