I tried looking on (connect to /var/lib/imap/socket/lmtp[/var/lib/imap/socket/lmtp]: Permission denied) and checked many things but could not get things to work. I decided to reinstall OS, postfix and cyrus-imap again and it all works as I thought it should.

I have an inkling that there may have been an incorrect perl_tree_simple module loaded up..not sure if this is linked

Now my problem is netstat -ntlp is showing:
tcp 0 0 127.0.0.1:25 0.0.0.0:* LIST
This does not look correct I would expect local address 0.0.0.0:25
Why is this happening...what have I missed.

The impact of this is that if I set the smtp to localhost mail is sent and imap recieves fine, but ofcourse I want it to point to the mail.test.com domain name.

My host file has
127.0.0.1 localhost
10.17.0.1 mail mail.test.com

Any help would be appreciated/
