webcam on Kubuntu7.10
Hi,
I am using Kubuntu 7.10 on a AMD64 and a Compaq nx6110 computers. I have a A4 Tech PK-5 webcam. I tried many things but I can not use the webcam. I tried it on an very old computer with Pardus 2007.3 and it worked immediately. In the Ubuntuwiki it says that this webcam is supported and works with Kubuntu 7.04 with spca5xx driver. I have the driver installed with Adept Manager, as well as gspca and when I check it with modprobe I get: root@oyo-kubuntu:~# modprobe spca5xx FATAL: Module spca5xx not found. When I run camorama I get a message saying that Could not connect to video device (/dev/video0) even though there is a dev in /dev dir. When I run Kopete and go to Settings-Configure-Device I do not see any pictures. What am I suppose to do to be able to use the webcam? Thanks very much for your help. Best Regards |
spca5xx-source
Two things come to mind:
First, I assume that you are running the 64-bit AMD version of the kernal. If not, you should be. Next, if you look at the information about the spca5xx driver you probably will see (I'm pulling this up from the Ubuntu 6.06 pages): Quote:
I know that sounds awful, but it could be your only solution. |
I use Kubuntu 7.10. spca5xx is available from the repositories.
