WebCam driver not compiled for my kernel
Hi,
I have a CS330 Intel WebCam and want to install the spca50x driver on mandrake 9.2, but there is no version compiled for 2.4.22. I am very new - so, is it possible for me to download the source code, and compile it within mandrake 9.2 to make it work, or is there more to it than that (of course I cant even compile it :D .....yet :study: ) - does the source need to be changed at all? Thnks for your time... dw |
If it is a kernel module, it probably needs to be compiled together with the kernel... If it is a standalone executable, there should be no problem. However your kernel suffers from some serious (local) security issues, so you should probably upgrade.

Thanks for the infor, I will take a look at that....just to clear up my fog. I can recompile the kernel on my mandrake 9.2 distribution, to whatever kernel I want to use, right?
Also, I had an error last night compiling the driver source for SPCA50X driver....I dont remember exactly what it was, but the first line said something about gcc.....missing.....dont recall. Is this a package that might not yet be installed in my distro? I will take a look at this again this evening. Thanks again for the reply dw |
