As a web designer I have always used Windows hosting platforms & have no experience of Linux.

A client of mine wants to host a site using a Linux platform. The site itself will be created using a combination of Coldfusion, Flash Remoting and mySQL (all of which are supported by the host I have in mind).

Since I'll be using a third party host (ie I don't have to install Linux myself) does it matter that I have no knowledge of Linux?

That is, can I just create the same kind of site with the same code that I would use on Windows and expect it to work the same way on Linux or is there anything I should be aware of?

You site should work regardless of which OS is being used to host them as long as the hosting provider supports the technologies you intend to use (which is not a problem from what you mention above). When I first started developing websites, I used to host them on Linux even though I didn't know how to use Linux at that time.
