web pages not the same.

If i go to http://linuxcommand.org/learning_the_shell.php in windows I get a page about learning the linux shell.

The same address used in Mandriva linux i go to a site about linux but not the page teaching about the shell and they are advertising a linux school.

I have actually printed the address out and transfered it. I'm using fire fox for the browser in both cases...

thanks,

I just went there using Firefox and went to the instruction content page. I have no answer for your situation unless they count the number of times you have visited the site.

Yes it was the text page explaining the shell, I can not answer your question on Mandriva, I was using Suse and then I tried PClinuxOS and they both come up the same. I will check it out in Mepis in just a minute and if it is different I will repost. I am using Firefox on all three, I have not checked the versions.

No offense, but I'd still bet it was a typo.
Please copy and paste (!) the address from the location bar of the browser showing you the 'wrong' page.

i have no idea what happened ..... I just clicked the link that I put in the original post and it comes up properly .... i did that befor and it did not ....

I rechecked the typo thing again and again ....... at the very first i noticed that the address i used had www in it and the page i wanted did not so i took that out and it still came up wrong .. i compared what i typed by copying it and pasting it along side what the real address was and it looked the same .. i say again !

it works now ... even though time after time it did not before ... and all i did was click on the original link again.

very strange but i swear it was redirected somehow

thanks,

Perhaps there was a small window of time where the site was down and a default redirect was put in place. In that case, you just happened to be “lucky” enough to get the site at the correct time.
