web pages do not fill my screen

I am new to Linux for starters. When I log on to a web page MSN or any other the print is small and it does not fill my wide screen monitor. I was a XP user and I am having trouble getting the same screen size, look etc. Even pictures do not show up the same size as they did on XP. Thanks for the help forum.

Try running xorgsetup, as root in the terminal.

what is your desktop evironment?

desk top enviornment?

I will do some research as to what you mean by this. My desktop just says LinuxMint.

ok so if it is mint linux then the default i believe is gnome, but they have it set up differently. when you log in, press Alt+F2, it should bring up a small window, in the text box on that window, type 'gnome-terminal' (without quotes) and press enter, that's your terminal. so, as BrianL suggested, type su, press enter, put in your root password, then type xorgsetup.

* What video card do you have ? (lspci)
The steps to configure may be slightly different depending on what video card you nave.. (Intel, ATI, Nvidia)

* What monitor do you have ?(Model Number)
* What refresh Rates does your monitor support ? (Vertical and Horizontal from the Specifications)
If your refresh rates for your monitor are wrong in your xorg.conf you will have a very difficult time getting things to work right.

* What resolution are you trying to achieve ?
Always nice to know the desired end goal (resolution you are trying to achieve/native resolution of the display)
