web page locksup

I do not use any windows programs I only use ubuntu and it is the new version 14.40 Lts All Hp and Windows programs were removed I use firefox and for search but web sites get stuck and sometimes do not load I added the firewall configuration program from you to see if that would help but no luck So my big ? is can I just use Ubuntu 14.04 LTS and not use firefox or I think Ubuntu is the best there is I love it and trust it just want to learn if i can search web with just Ubuntu I have the 14.40 Lts version

Which websites get stuck? It may be a problem with website webserver not about Firefox. You can set nameservers to google public ones. Some sites are blocked by your default ISP.

in file /etc/resolv.conf

put two lines:
