web page

i am hosting my own web server using red hat 8 and apache 2.0

When i type in an email program/message such as outlook 2000 and try to access it, i get an error, yet when i type it in my browser it is OK.

The error is "cannot find the file \\ make sure the path or internet address is correct.

If i put a in front of it then it works just fine.

How come this is so?

thanks again everyone.

Most likely Outlook doesn't recognize or doesn't know what protocol to use when connecting which is the http protocol.

This isn't Linux related at all but more Outlook related and problem. I would suggest if you need an answer might want to look at the windows knowledge base or maybe a Windows help site where you might get a quicker and more accurate answer.
