Web hosting application- assigning disk space

I am trying to develop a web hosting application on a Linux host. Users can connect to this application and create -and host - their domains.

At the point at which the user creates a domain, (s)he also needs to choose the amount of storage that this domain would require.

I need help with how to implement this at the back end.

Should I create a file system for the domain specifying number of blocks matching the space requested by the user? If this is done can moe blocks be added on the fly (the user has an option to request for more storage). If this approach is right, what would be the commands to use to acheive this? I cam imagine that the sequence would be, create a file system and mount it. But I'm not sure about how to go about doing it.

On the other hand, would it be smarter to enable quotas for the file systems that would be used by the users requesting for domain creations. But I guess disk quota mgmt requires lots of intervention - like editing files - by the sys admin. But I want all this to happen on the click of buttons.

Help please......

thanks

If immplemented properly ie if all the scripts/codes are proper, using quotas to
manage disk space would be much simpler.
Try setting quotas using setquota (man setquota )
So user can set quota at the time of creation and later can even modify that
though the same interface.
