Read the LQ Rules.

You re-opened a thread that had been closed for THREE YEARS to post a question that's off-topic. Open your own thread for your own question, so people can at least see it. And if you're using RHEL7, have you contacted Red Hat support??

When you open your new thread, you need to post details, like what kind of hardware, is this a new installation or existing, if existing, what has changed recently, etc.

This thread has been split from the older one.

In the future, if you feel there is a connection related to a very old question, the better option is to include a link to that other question.

When viewing forum pages, there is a Thread Starter button to allow you to create a new question.

(1) In the emergency shell, use a partition editor to see if, in fact, a swap partition exists. If it does not, the partition must be created and formatted. (Linux will detect the partition and create a /dev/.../swap device-table entry for it. If you don't see it, it's probably not there.) But also, make sure that you do in fact see entries in /dev for all of the disk-drives that you think are attached to your system!

(2) Indeed, if you are using a lawfully-licensed Red Hat product, one of the things that your license fees pay for is "excellent and immediate telephone support."
