does fedora core 4 does not comes with JDK bundled ?
i am cinfused with these statements.... "6.1.8. Java Package Recommendations Fedora Core 4 users are advised not to use the Java RPM provided by Sun. It contains Provides that conflict with names used in packages provided as part of Fedora Core 4. Because of this, Sun Java might disappear from an installed system during package upgrade operations. Fedora Core 4 users should use either the RPM from jpackage.org or manually install the Sun Java tarball into /opt. Sun Java 1.5+ is recommended for stability purposes. ....." what does it mean ? does FC4 does not come with JDK ....i did not check whether the JDK rpm is in 3rd or 4th CD.... what do i do ? should i install JDK from the 3rd or 4th installer CD ? OR should i download the JDK rpm from the sun website and then install ? |
Sun Java is proprietary, so no free distro can include it. Fedora Core includes GCJ, another implementation of Java. If you want to install Sun's Java, follow these instructions instead of using the packages on Sun's site because they are bad.
