Hi! I need to install w2k on my computer, currently I use w98se, and I've got a book "Linux - secrets of administration and configuration", which is supplied with a cd with Red Hat 5.1 on it - I would like to install rh51, cause it's described in that book. What should I do, to run all these systems together? I have w98 already, free space for linux / and swap at the beggining of my disk (primary partition of fat32 - win98 - is after that). I don't wan't to use external boot manager, i would like to configure LILO to boot from linux, w2k, and w98. Or at least how to make w2k to install boot option for linux (linux is installed before the w2k installation). What's best?
You will need 3 paritions, one for W98, one for W2k and an empty one for Linux - in that order. Since W98 is already there, just install W2K and then Linux - the installer will pick up and add your Win installs.
If you can get a newer version (download or buy) I would do that - RH 5 is now end of life, in fact RH9 is soon to disappear. You will get more apps and support for a newer version.
I already have 3 partitions, can i override w2k boot manager and give all boot options to linux lilo/or grub? Another thing, like i said i'd prefer to install rh5.1 because that's the distribution described in the book i have, so it would be easier for me to learn - i have all 3 discs of rh9, but it needs more hdspace, and it's quite different from rh51.
