vsftp localhost problem

I think I have vsFTP running: I do 'service vsftp restart' and it says ok, ok. However, I do 'ftp localhost' and get error : 'ftp: localhost: Temporary failure in name resolution'

I have not set up any sort of user list, but have anonymous enabled.

Any suggestions?

Thanks.

fixed the problem above, but in doing so, I get a str_getpwnam error. Apparently I need a nobody account which I have. In doing so, httpd has stopped working(i think). Everything looks ok, but when i put the URL in browser, i get the page not found error.

Errr.
