Volume Control: Intel 82801DB-ICH4 (Alsa mixer) won't save volume levels.

Hi, i'm a newbie to Gentoo 2007.0, but I've had much success setting everything up. One problem with the volume control mixer:

I'm using Gnome and ALSA and I get sound just fine, however, every time I reboot all the sound controls default to mute and 0%.

In my /etc/conf.d/alsasound file, SAVE_ON_STOP is set to yes, as well as all the other settings.

Any ideas? Thanks, and sorry in advance if this has been answered before.

lspci command

please execute lspci from the shell. The command will list all PCI that you have in your computer. Do you see a sound card in the list ?

it says:

00:1f.5 Multimedia audio controller: Intel Corporation 82801DB/DBL/DBM (ICH4/ICH4-L/ICH4-M) AC'97 Audio Controller (rev 03)

I've got the snd-intel8x0 driver loaded (or rather, it gets loaded automatically by alsa) Thanks so much for your help.
